Spring Food Drive Underway
The spring food drive begins this year with the goal of surpassing last year’s donation level, which generated over 1,500 pounds of much needed food for local food banks. This is a great time to assist those in need.
The 2017 spring food drive, in support of Feds Feed Families and sponsored by the Associates, kicks off March 20 and goes through May 5. Food collection barrels will be located at Bonneville Power Administration headquarters in the alcove across from the Marketplace Café, and the west and east entry areas. Employees can donate at collection sites in Vancouver (various locations at Van Mall and BPA Ross Complex); field offices can participate by coordinating their own food drives for their local food banks.
Donated food items need to be nonperishable and nutritious such as canned meats, fruits and vegetables, pasta, rice, cereal or ready-to-eat meals. Employees can also donate cooking oil, paper products, household supplies and other personal care items. Limited amounts of pet food may also be given. If you donate glass products, please box or bag the items separately and label them as “GLASS” on all sides. Please do not donate cash, checks or open boxes of food, even if the contents are individually wrapped.
Employees interested in volunteering should contact their local food banks to learn about opportunities in the area. Volunteers will also be needed to deliver donated items from Ross and Van Mall to the Vancouver food bank.
Contact Lauren Tenney, Vancouver, at 360-619- 6294, if you can assist with this effort. Other food drive questions can be directed to Brian Sulffridge, headquarters, at 503-230- 4048.
